The All in: For Parkhead event took place in Parkhead library on Saturday 5th July 2014. The aim of the day was to get together as a community and discuss what is good about the area, what we’d like to improve and importantly how we can work together to make the changes we want. We had over 60 local people ranging in age from 13-80, with people really keen to share their views and to think of ways they can work together to improve where they live.
In the round table discussions we asked the questions; What’s great about Parkhead? What could be improved? How could we make the changes we want?
We made sure there other ways for people to give their views: questionnaires, videos of previous interviews, talking walls and people were also encouraged to chat to ‘All in’ representatives on the day.
What we heard
The discussions were lively with everyone ready to have their say. Highlights of what was great about Parkhead were: the people, a strong local identify and the facilities in the area.
Top issues about what could be improved top issue included: littering and dog fouling, transport, the issue of people in poverty and use of derelict land. Suggested ways to make the changes happen included: create more opportunities to be involved, involve everyone as equals and ensure real actions grow from the event.
